Katagami starts from Inter's open-source outlines, and both families are free under the SIL Open Font License. Katagami squares the curves and cuts terminals level. It adds a rounded member, a reading member, a serif and a mono, and it merges 19 more scripts.

## Differences in Katagami

- Katagami Sans's quarter arcs reach 0.73 of the way to their corners, and the arcs of a circle reach 0.552. The other Katagami members are rounder than Katagami Sans.
- Katagami cuts the ends of c, e, s, a and g level, and Katagami Sans has square punctuation.
- Katagami adds Chinese, Japanese and Korean through four companion fonts that the web stylesheet assigns to its proportional members.
- Katagami has small capitals through `smcp` and `c2sc`. Inter 4.1 removed its incomplete small capitals.
- Katagami has a single weight axis. It has no optical size axis and no italics yet.
